Back to nature – yoga retreats in the midst of the mountains and the ocean

Move both the body and the mind. Place yourself in the center of your universe, be the little spoon with nature. Connect with yourself and like-minded (or unlike-minded) people.

4 days of yoga, meditation and restitution within an old factory in the Lofoten Islands

We welcome you to our Back to nature – yoga retreats at Trevarefabrikken. Tucked away in an old fishing village between the islands, the mountains and the ocean in the Lofoten Archipelago, Northern Norway – far from the interruptions and buzz of everyday life in the city. The perfect hideout.

Join us in slowing down and connecting to both yourself and the raw surrounding nature. The wild ocean and the arctic wind. Enjoy hearty food for the body and the soul. Comfy beds. Early morning hues and late afternoon sunsets between the mountains from our backyard. Maybe even some northern lights?

Your facilitators and hosts: Rina & Hedda

Rina is a former classical ballet dancer, and has together with her father practiced yoga since childhood. Rina believes that yoga can help us move through life with compassion and love towards each other and towards our planet.

Her intention is to make yoga accessible to everyone, regardless of their experience or their mental and physical ability. Rina wants to encourage her students to explore their own boundaries and teaches with a focus on creativity, playfulness and creates a safe space for healing and greater clarity in self-reflection.

Hedda stumbled upon yoga when she was rehabilitating from various sports injuries. With time, yoga turned from a rehabilitation form into a way of life. She has spent the last 6 years studying with different teachers and shared practices around the world.

Hedda believes that people find yoga when they are ready to listen, and that to those who listen the practice itself will do most of the teaching. She teaches not only what she has been told but what she has experienced and embodied herself, and believes in practicing simply for the sake of practicing – connecting body mind and breath, trusting that the rest will come.

Day by day

Day 1

Check-in to the hotel from 15:00 onwards. Take your time to settle in and arrive. You get the chance to go on a tour of the old factory building before the evening program (to read more about Trevarefabrikken’s history, click here).

After the tour, we will have our official start of the back to nature retreat, our welcoming ceremony and a shared gentle yoga practice. We finish our first evening with dinner together.

Day 2

We start with an energizing yoga practice with views towards the ocean. Afterwards we eat breakfast together while enjoying the panoramic views of the Vestfjord right outside the factory. Lunch packages are distributed before heading out on a hike in the nature.

The rest of the afternoon is for you. You can use Trevarefabrikken’s sauna that faces the ocean, explore the village of Henningsvær rest, go swimming or read – you do you. We finish the day by having a dinner together before meeting for a ceremony with gentle movements and breathing.

Day 3

We start with a flowing yoga practice and breath work, followed by breakfast together. There will also be a foraging / harvesting walk hosted by Odd Arne Sandberg from Lofoten’s Ville Kjøkken (Lofoten’s Wild Kitchen) in the wild nature of Lofoten during the Saturday morning/noon.

Lunch will be served before the daily sauna session – and we suggest you try bathing in the cold arctic fjord in between the heat of the sauna. The evening yoga practice will be gentle and restorative before we sit down and enjoy our last dinner together.

Day 4

We end our back to nature retreat with a yin yoga practice and closing ceremony with a view out towards the ocean. After that we invite you to enjoy a long and cozy last breakfast before check out at 12:00.

If you are traveling late on Sunday, you can keep your luggage stored at the factory while you roam the village or the surrounding nature.

Accommodation

During the retreat you will stay in one of the unique and playful hotel rooms of Trevarefabrikken. Every room has been built to maintain the original details of the factory. Reused bricks, old elevator shafts, concrete details, ash flooring, and large industrial windows letting natural light fill the space. The rooms are located on the second and third floor of Trevarefabrikken, overlooking the small arctic fishing village of Henningsvær.

All of our rooms are for sharing during the retreat – to better land within the group. You can either share a double room or one of our bigger apartments (with space for up to 4-6 people). If you are planning on attending the retreat with a friend, please let us know and we’ll make sure to put you in the same room together.

If you wish for a private room, please let us know. Price difference applies.

If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to contact us at info(at)trevarefabrikken.no.

Nice to know

Is transport included?

×

Transport is not included in the price. We urge our guests to either fly to Evenes, Svolvær og Leknes and get a rental car from there. Evenes has daily direct flights from Oslo and is usually the cheapest. Although the drive to Henningsvær is a little longer – estimated 2,5-3 hours – the views along the road are scenic and it makes for a good appetizer towards your weekend in the north. Both Leknes and Svolvær airport are approximately a 1 hour drive from Henningsvær.

For more detailed information about how to travel here – read this page.

Is food and beverage included?

×

Breakfast, lunch and dinner are all included in the price. All meals are vegetarian/vegan, and mostly seasonally built from the local ingredients that are fresh and available. Water, tea and coffee will be available without extra charges all day.

There are also options to get drinks (alcohol, kombucha, sodas, juice etc) and snacks from the Bar or Café Menu at your own expense.

We will send you a questionnary about food preferences or allergies after you have booked your retreat spot and we will do our best to accommodate everyone’s dietary requirements.

Do I need my own equipment and what to pack?

×

Trevarefabrikken offers hejhej-mats, blocks and bolsters for all guests, as well as towels & bed linen. You do not need to bring your own yoga equipment. However, we advise you to bring comfortable, warm clothing for your yoga practices, a bathing suit and robe for the Sauna, as well as warm clothing for the hike (water proof jacket, beanie, gloves, scarf) to face raw nature and the arctic wind.

We’ll provide all paricipants with a suggested packing list when the retreat dates are approaching.

Is Back to nature - yoga retreat for everyone?

×

This retreat is for everyone, no matter the level of skills or experience with yoga. Back to nature is the right retreat for you, if you are curious to move your body, wish to nurture body and mind, slow down, sleep in comfy beds and experience raw and real nature, wild water and arctic wind.

The whole schedule of the retreat is optional, we ask you to listen to yourself and your needs. You are more than welcome to join all our offers. Yet, they are optional and you know yourself best. Our experienced yoga teacher Rina will also be happy to guide you through uncertainties in your practice.

Both Rina and Hedda are also prenatal yoga teachers, and have a background in supporting women and new mothers in their pregnant journeys – so don’t hesitate to join our retreats even if you are pregnant.
